About our Implant Specialist- Dr. Steven Reff

Dr. Reff uses his extensive experience to provide the highest level of surgical care in a gentle, compassionate manner. Following dental school, Dr. Reff completed his surgical-based training at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine/New York Presbyterian Hospital. Upon completing his training Dr. Reff began treating patients in private practice. He was also invited to take a position at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine teaching postgraduate candidates and future dentists and was additionally appointed admitting privileges.

What comprises an implant?

A dental implant consists of 3 parts- Implant, Abutment and a Crown.

It involves a 4 step process:

Step-1
This step involves extraction of the concerned tooth/teeth if required, followed by bone graft placement. This is followed by surgical placement of an implant screw into the jaw.

Step-2
Once the surgery is complete, you’ll need to allow three to six months for your implant to heal and merge with your jawbone. This process is called osseointegration.

Step-3
Once healed, the implant will get an abutment on top which will act as a connection between the implant screw and the implant supported crown.

Step-4
Final appointment is when we insert customized restoration to the implant fixture.
